Individual Studio Sessions:
Observational Drawing
Drawing what you see: how can we translate the 3 dimensional to the 2 dimensional? A variety of techniques and strategies will be explored to effectively render using traditional approaches to measuring, proportion and scale. Using pencil and charcoal, students will work from simple to more complex still life setups and objects, exploring shape and value to establish effective figure-ground relationships. The emphasis is on realistic rendering- the necessary skill for all art-making
Painting
Students will work from simple to more complex still life setups, first emphasizing value, shape, and light with the final goal of simple to complex color relationships..
Painting and Drawing from the Photograph
The relationship between photography and painting is historically dense and reaches back as far as the renaissance. Students will be using photography as a tool to create work- from rendering/image transfer techniques to different approaches using and working from photoshop, collage, and traditional prints.
All studio sessions are 1 hour and the fee per person is $75
